The Washington Compost published a new article claiming that the number of teens who identify themselves as gay or bisexual is in ‘free fall’ and the reason for that is a mystery, citing grifters university researchers.
“Amazing what happens when you cut the Department of Education and USAID,” Terry Schilling, the head of the American Principles Project, wrote on X.
But Twenge said the initial declines began during Joe Biden’s presidency, and the data doesn’t explain why a change in administration would affect one age group and not another.
“If it was politics, why would that only have an effect on ninth-graders and not 17- and 18-year-olds?” she asked. “It maybe has something to do with it, but it’s clearly not the only thing going on. It’s a mystery.”
These three paragraphs contain 90% of the explanation without even intending. The other 10% is in the rest of the article in which it is shown that the most significant drop is “identification” among girls (the trend/social contagion explanation).
Even so, Washington Post (and literally all other outlets, be them on the “left” or on the “right”) generally insist that it’s not clear why while at the same time perhaps inadvertently explaining exactly why.
